I can understand that Bugbot Spybot has an immunizer that protects browsers, but how does SpywareBlaster work? If it helps when you explain Imagine that I am an idiot. Daveski17 , Mar 2, OK Cheers. A log file that can be turned on or off, with the default off, would be as unobstrusive as SpywareBlaster itself. Personally, I have used SpywareBlaster for years, but when I thought about recommending it at a company where I work I wondered how I would answer questions like these : "What does it block? Being unable to answer such questions, I hesitate to make any recommendation.

With security software, conflicts can occur when one program misinterprets the other program's legitimate activity as being characteristic of malware, and blocks it. You can install and use more than one anti-malware package; however, it's best to allow only one package to run in real-time. Use any other anti-malware programs you have installed to perform individual scans.
Because SpywareBlaster is a passive program, it will not tie up resources needed by Microsoft Security Essentials. Additionally, SpywareBlaster is specifically designed to complement other security software that's running on the same system. Security Essentials is unlikely to misdiagnose SpywareBlaster's activity as the work of malicious code and prevent it from working. You can safely install both programs, using Security Essentials for real-time anti-malware protection and to run scans of your system, while SpywareBlaster takes care of any malicious objects that MSE might miss.

Posted 20 May - AM Yes it works. It uses a list of "bad" ActiveX programs, to decide what to block. It's mostly geared to Internet Explorer users, but also benifits Mozilla based browser users, by preventing the download of bad cookies. It tells your browser what ActiveX programs are not allowed to run, what cookies are not allowed to be downloaded, and adds restrictions to known malicious sites, when you visit them. Every program has a CLass ID that is unique to the type of program.
Once Spywareblaster enables writes those killbits they are "locked in" and any identified spyware cannot be opened. Spywareblaster writes these killbits in and then stays off until you need to re-write them again with an update.
