How long from interlaken to lucerne by train

We are all about the scenery, so do you think a round trip by rail from Luzern to Montreaux in one day of at least 10 hours would be worth it and logistically possible? I'm trying to decide whether I should stay in Zurich and take day trips to Lucerne and Basel or stay in Lucerne and take day trips from there. Any tips? Any must go places in Switzerland in December? Hi, I am in the begginnings of planning our trip toSwitzerand for next june. Just came acroos your blog and was stilldeciding whether to include Luzern and which scenic rail to do. We want to revisit Lake Como which we visited briefly on an Italian tour a few years ago and that got me looking at Switzerland as we would like to take a Basel to Amsterdam river cruise. So between Lake Como and Basel so many choices! Fly into Milan. Train to Lake Como. Presume we can pick up train a few days later to Luzern?
